Michael qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2001 whilst at Marks and Spencer, where he worked in the group’s international business. He was responsible for the set-up and operation of their German finance department and the consolidation of the group’s international results. He then moved into property finance and joined Taylor Woodrow, where he managed the accounting and financial analysis of the high-end residential joint ventures.
In 2003, he joined The iO Group (now Cromwell Property Group) to establish and head up the European Fund Accounting department, formalising the multi-jurisdictional fund consolidations and investor analysis of their European institutional funds and developing the reporting to an institutional level, leading them to become one of the first companies to comply with INREV reporting guidelines. In addition, he was involved in a series of fund restructures and refinancing which were instrumental in bringing forth a period of extensive growth of the European operation, with total assets under management increasing by €3.5bn.
Michael has extensive experience in corporate finance, fund management accounting and reporting, debt and equity management, tax structures, fund modelling and strategic fund analysis.
Michael has always loved languages and speaks German and French. In his spare time, he is a keen philatelist, enjoys long country walks, travelling, opera and music and is trying to learn the piano.
